It was faithful, and giving up was not in its vocabulary. Despite distances and storms, many learned to love it, and some even owe their lives to it. "Catacho" was the name given in the Peruvian Amazonas, to the PBY-5A Catalina, a strong hydroplane that by the end of the 1940's served with the "41 Escuadrón de Transportes" (41st Transport Squadron) of the Fuerza Aérea del Perú (Peruvian Air Force).
